FOOD PREP, STYLING & PHOTOGRAPHY

I have had a passion for cooking since my early twenties when we’d bought our first home, began entertaining friends and I became enamoured with Jamie Oliver and any cooking show I could possibly see. It probably stems way back earlier - I remember my mum’s Women’s Weekly recipe card library that I loved to cook from as a child, though I am not sure I would rate my efforts. My mother wasn’t an enthusiastic cook, so it was a world I had to discover on my own.

Combining my love of cooking and photography is more recent. While I did dabble writing a raw food blog (with some really bad food photography) back in 2007 when my late husband was battling cancer https://juleshaines.livejournal.com/ food photography wasn’t really a ‘thing’ then, blogging was still fairly new and keeping it up with a toddler, a design business and a sick husband wasn’t really doable at the time. Instagram hadn’t even been invented.

I still love to cook, try new recipes, adapt where I think it’s needed, shoot the dishes and most importantly create great food memories and experiences for my family.
